Earn A Degree In General Health Sciences
This increasingly popular program is designed for students interested in health and medical fields that do not require specialized clinical training. This degree qualifies students for entry level positions in hospitals or other health practices, non-profits or government programs. Students have the freedom to choose electives in disciplines such as Business or Psychology to support their areas of interest. The program also accepts clinical hours in Nursing or Radiologic Technology as electives.
The capstone of the Health Sciences program is an internship, served during senior year and offered through an agreement with the Ochsner Clinic Foundation. UHC interns work as volunteers in various Ochsner departments. The purpose is to give students real-world work experience and introduce them to the work of a large medical institution. If possible, internships are assigned based on student interest.
