Joan M. Fischer MA, MEd
Director, Thomas E. Chambers Counseling and Training Center
Ms. Fischer holds a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from Our Lady of Holy Cross College as well as a master’s degree in Special Education from the University of Missouri, St. Louis.
She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC-S), a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT-S), a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), certified in Reality Therapy/Choice Theory, as well as trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). Ms. Fischer is currently the Director of the Thomas E. Chambers Counseling and Training Center. She has taught in the undergraduate counseling program at OLHCC and serves as an adjunct instructor in the master’s program as well as maintaining a private practice. In addition, she has worked as a consultant to the Jefferson Parish Public School System, has worked in mental health rehabilitation programs, and worked with the Jefferson Parish Human Services Authority providing counseling support to individuals with disabilities and their families. She has developed and presented over forty workshops and presentations for schools, community agencies, private corporations, and professional conferences.
