Student Intern for Office of Student Life

Reports to:Director of Student Life

Basic Function

To assist the Office of Student Life with the general administrative tasks, assistance with student activities including events such as the Crawfish Boil, Welcome Week and other major departmental events, and delivering superior customer support to students, faculty, and staff as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Liaising with visitors to the Office of Student Life.
  • Maintain club and organization files.
  • Process all mail for the office.
  • Complete various administrative tasks using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Assist with University events to include Crawfish Boil, Welcome Week and other major departmental events.
  • Assist in the preparation of student activities.
  • Answer, screen, and refer telephone calls appropriately.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Life.

Typical Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Office environment that requires working at a computer, typing, sitting, standing, and walking for long periods of time. Frequent bending, stooping, and stretching. Requires hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, distinguishing letters and symbols, corrected vision and hearing within normal range, mathematical ability, speaking and writing proficiently in the English language, and working under occasionally stressful conditions. Requires use of office equipment such as computers, printers, telephones, copiers, fax machines, and scanner. Also, must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel.


Student Worker for Blaine S. Kern Library

Reports to: Reference Librarian, Evening/Weekend Supervisor/Director of Library Services

Work Schedule: flexible schedule, may include evenings and weekends

Responsibilities

  • Provide front desk duties (check in, check out, and renew materials)
  • Answer the front desk telephone
  • Monitor the security gate
  • Greet visitors as they enter the library
  • Answer directional and general information questions
  • Assist in navigation of the web site
  • Refer to librarian when visitors need reference assistance
  • Shelve library materials and keep shelves in order
  • Shift collection when needed
  • Troubleshoot library copiers and printers
  • Assist with opening and/or closing procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry equipment, supplies, or materials weighing up to 30 lbs.
  • Access upper library shelves with a step stool and bend to lower shelves
  • Bend and stoop to reach equipment and materials
  • Push a fully loaded, wheeled, book cart, up to 100 lbs.
  • Sustain long periods of standing/walking back and forth

Student Worker for Information Technology

Two 10-Hour Positions Available
8:30 am – 11:00am
4:00pm – 6:30pm

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Answer help desk phone
  • Basic Troubleshooting
  • Check mail and distribute accordingly
  • Maintain computer equipment in classrooms
  • Maintain the Academic Skills Center
  • Run errands on campus as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. and bend to reach equipment below desk

Department of Business Administration Student Worker

Reports To

Department Chair

Basic Function

To assist the marketing and promotional efforts of the Business Department.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performing e-mail campaigns.
  • Assist with online promotions via social media.
  • Distribute marketing materials.
  • Collect marketing information
  • Maintain marketing/public relations records
  • Assist with events organization.
  • Perform any other marketing related duties as assigned by the department chair.

Typical Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Office environment that requires working at a computer, typing, sitting, standing, and walking for short periods of time. Strong communication skills, computer proficiency - Word, Excel, Power Point, organizational skills, teamwork skills. Requires use of office equipment such as computers, printers, telephones, copiers, fax machines, and scanner.
