Reporting a Crime

Crimes and emergencies should be reported to the security guard on duty or to the Office of Student Affairs at the time of the occurrence. The Security Office maintains a close working relationship with all appropriate law enforcement agencies and elements of the criminal justice system. Reports in the form of an Incident Report will be filed at the time of the occurrence. Our follow-up activities strive to identify and prosecute criminals, recover stolen property, and encourage restitution, when possible. A crime, which occurs off-campus, should be reported to the police department having legal jurisdiction  of that area.

Victims are encouraged to report all crimes and public safety related incidents to the UHC Security Office in a timely and accurate manner.

Call UHC Security Office at (504)329-4430 (6am — 3pm) and (504)247-3825 (3pm —  llpm). To report an emergency to the New Orleans Police Department call 911, if using a campus phone dial 9-911.

All UHC incidents involving students are forwarded to the Student Affairs Office for review and potential action, as appropriate.  UHC Security will investigate all reports.  Additional information obtained via the investigation will also be forwarded to the Office of Student Conduct.

If assistance is required from the New Orleans Police Department or the New Orleans Fire Department, UHC security will contact the appropriate unit.  Individuals should report a crime to the UHC Security Office to ensure timely warning reports to the community and annual statistical disclosure.
