Student Health Services
The Student Health Services Office provides students with a variety of health-related and wellness services. The Office of Student Health Services operates under two principles. The first principle is to provide basic preventative care to the Holy Cross community. This is conducted on an annual basis during the OLHCC health fair. The second principle is to provide students health education information in a variety of forms, such as pamphlets, handouts, bulletin board projects and programs.

Stomach issues
Colds, sinus issues, allergies
* Minor First Aid
* Blood Pressure Screenings
* Weight Assessments
* Assistance with Smoking Cessation

Louisiana State Immunization Requirements for Students of Higher Learning
In accordance with Louisiana Revised Statutes 17:170 (as mandated by Act 10147 of 1990) effective January 1, 1991, institutions of Higher Learning must require proof of immunization for enrollment. All Schools of Higher Learning are required to maintain a record of the following for each student:
Measles
1. Requirement for effective Measles first dose:
a) Given in 1968 or later; live vaccine without gamma globulin
b) Given on or after the first birthday
2. Requirement for effective 2nd dose of Measles:
a) Given after 1968; live vaccine without gamma globulin
b) Given at any age as long as the first dose is given on or after 12 months of age and the
second dose is given at least one month after the first dose.
c) Required for all college students born in 1957 or later.
Mumps and Rubella
Proof of Mumps and Rubella immunization is required.
1. Documentation of the Rubella Vaccine and Mumps Vaccine having been given.
2. Documentation of immunity by serologic test.
Tetanus
Td or Tdap is required for all individuals who have never been given a primary series, or who have not received a booster dose in the previous ten (10) years.
Meningococcal Vaccine
Proof of Meningococcal immunization is required in accordance with Acts 251 and 711, effective August 15, 2006.
Effective August 1, 2008, All students entering the college requesting an exemption for personal or medical reasons for the MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) or Tetanus vaccines will be required to have a physician’s signature accompany their own on the OLHCC Immunization Certificate.
Students are strongly encouraged to receive the vaccines at one of the local health units. Please see the attached list for phone numbers and locations of local health units.
EMERGENCIES
In the event of an emergency situation requiring immediate medical attention, the College utilizes the services of nearby hospitals, physicians and ambulances.
If an emergency arises outside of office hours, campus security acts as a backup to the Office of Student Health Services.
Campus Security may be reached by dialing 329-4430 or 247-3825.
If an emergency occurs during normal working hours, the Student Health Services Nurse will be notified at extension 127 (office) or 175 (Admissions Office) or 110 (Student Affairs Office).
For emergencies occurring outside of Student Health Services Office hours, security as well as 911 will be notified.
