Dear UHC Family & Friends,
As the weeks of Summer are quickly passing us by, my excitement continues to grow over the upcoming school year.
Beginning August 11, we will host Move-In Day in which our UHC team will welcome our students living on campus in our Residence Hall along with their families. The day will be filled with our students getting better acquainted with their roommates, learning more about university processes, and of course, fostering a family-like atmosphere that makes our institution such a special place to experience. Next, we will host our first-time freshmen orientation on August 12. This event is such an enriching one as I absolutely love meeting our new students as they embark on their educational journey. Classes officially begin on August 21, so if you are interested in enrolling in the Fall, there is still time! Click here to learn more.
With all of my anticipation surrounded by our students returning to campus in the Fall, I am certainly reminded about how blessed I am to lead such an exceptional team of faculty, staff, and administration who do an extraordinary job of fostering growth, innovation, and meaningful connections throughout our campus and our community. These dedicated and talented employees continuously share their expertise and are ready to inspire, challenge, and mentor our students to ensure they are receiving the highest quality of education that we can provide. Their arrival on campus in a few short weeks has me filled with eagerness and optimism for a meaningful academic year ahead.
While I have my eyes set on all of the activity taking place in August, I would be remiss if I did not share with you the activity taking place since the last time we connected. We recently held our Energy Venture Camp on campus last month. Campers learned how to build and fly a drone, explored Bioengineering in virtual reality, and got hands-on with energy-based chemistry (to name a few initiatives). Also, we had a team of UHC professionals who participated in the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s Healthcare, Technology, & Innovation Summit. This summit helped to shed light on disparities within access to healthcare and technology and discuss how we can work together to overcome them. Dr. Roy Salgado, UHC Counseling Dept, was a moderator for the mental health panel at the summit. Last, we are currently hosting a NASA Astro Camp on our university grounds as well. This camp is centered on STEM-related topics as campers learn how to solve engineering challenges with their teammates.
As we eagerly anticipate the start of the new school year, let us embrace the spirit of curiosity, collaboration, and resilience that defines the University of Holy Cross. Together, we will face new challenges, seize remarkable opportunities, and shape a future that surpasses all expectations. I extend my warmest wishes to you and your loved ones as you prepare for this exciting journey ahead.
Wishing you a joyful remainder of your Summer!
Spes Unica,
Stanton
