Dear UHC Family & Friends,
As we embark on this new year, I am thrilled to extend my warmest greetings to each and every one of you. Happy 2024! I hope this message finds you in good health, high spirits, and surrounded by the warmth of your loved ones.
At the University of Holy Cross, we are poised for an exceptional year. As such, I am delighted to share some exciting highlights and upcoming festivities that will undoubtedly make 2024 a remarkable chapter in the UHC story. First, we like to celebrate our students’ academic accomplishments by recognizing those who made our President’s List and Dean’s List. Next, the University is set to host a Scholarship Seminar and Resume Workshop on March 2nd, featuring Christen Arafeh, one of our esteemed alumnae. Christen will be sharing valuable insights on winning scholarships with the students.
Additionally, on Saturday, March 9, we have a delicious celebration awaiting us with our annual Crawfish Boil Cook-Off held on our beautiful campus grounds. This beloved event not only showcases our community spirit but also indulges our taste buds as attendees are able to munch on tasty crawfish boiled by competing teams. Additionally, vendors will be present at the event selling various goods and services. Lastly, the kiddos will be treated to fun-filled games throughout the day. If you are interested in sponsoring, attending, participating, and/or volunteering for this event, please click here. All proceeds go toward student support!
Looking ahead to Wednesday, April 10, we have a significant occasion on the horizon – the Spes Unica Award Dinner, which will be held at the Higgins Hotel. It gives me great pleasure to announce that Mrs. Mayra Pineda, President & CEO of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, will be the distinguished recipient of this prestigious award. Mrs. Pineda's unwavering commitment to service, leadership, and philanthropy embodies the spirit of Spes Unica, and we are honored to recognize her contributions to both UHC and the broader community. Details of the event can be found here.
As we venture into the opportunities that 2024 holds, let us remain united in our pursuit of knowledge, personal growth, and community betterment. The strength of the UHC family lies in the collective efforts of each member, and together, we can achieve greatness.
Wishing you all a prosperous and fulfilling year ahead. I am confident that, with your continued support, the University of Holy Cross will reach new heights in 2024.
Spes Unica,
Stanton

Essay question: Fr. Basile Moreau’s vision in his treatise Christian Education emphasized
nurturing the hearts of young individuals and fostering a positive connection with
their faith. How did your experience with the Family of Holy Cross (Priests, Brothers,
Marianites of Holy Cross) form your heart, develop your faith, and transform your
life to make you the person you are today?
As a component of the commemorative activities honoring the 175th Anniversary of the
presence of the Holy Cross Family – Brothers, Priests, Marianite Sisters – in Louisiana,
you are invited to share your reflections on the impact that Holy Cross has had on
your life. We will select 175 essays for publication that most meaningfully convey
the ways in which the teachings and principles of the Holy Cross Priests, Brothers
and/or Marianite Sisters have played a transformative role in your life. Essays should
be limited to 500 words and should be sent to legacy@marianites.org. Approvals to publish will be requested from authors whose essays are selected.
