Dear UHC Family & Friends,
The beginning of the Fall semester at UHC has brought some amazing successes and a
heavy blow.
Last week, the UHC community was deeply saddened to hear the news of Philippe Lannelongue’s
passing. As a professor of Marketing and Management in the Department of Business
for over a decade, Philippe played an important role in educating our community's
business and health care leaders. I shared more about Philippe on Sept. 5, if you'd like to read further about his legacy
here at UHC. Please keep his family, friends, loved ones and colleagues here at UHC in your thoughts
and prayers.
We also have much to celebrate. According to our 2025 student census - our University is experiencing meaningful growth across multiple measures of enrollment. Earlier this month, we were also named the #1 nursing program in Louisiana by RegisteredNursing.org!
These gains are not just numbers; they are a testament to the hard work of our faculty,
staff and students. Together, we are expanding access to higher education and build
strong career pathways for students of all backgrounds. Most importantly, we are advancing
our mission rooted in compassion, justice and service. We hope you'll help spread the news that our UHC community is building bright futures as a leader in Louisiana higher
education.
Spes Unica,
Stanton F. McNeely III, Ed.D
President
The West Bank Hispanic Heritage Festival is only a few weeks away! We are excited to open our campus to celebrate community, culture and multicultural education on the West Bank. Census 2025 Data is Here!
We are proud to announce significant enrollment growth in the 2025 student census,
marking a positive step forward in our continued commitment to academic excellence
and community impact. This increase in enrollment aligns with the University’s strategic
intent to recruit students who are at any point in their educational journey: new
freshmen, students transferring to UHC from community colleges, and working adults,
as well as facilitating increased career pipelines, particularly for future healthcare
workers. Thanks to these efforts, UHC reports increases in all areas of enrollment.
In 2025, compared to the academic year prior,
-total enrollment increased by 7.05% to 1,124 students.
-degree-seeking and certification-seeking students rose 9.85%, alongside a 10.77%
increase in total credit hours.
-new student enrollments also saw a notable rise of 14.79%.
-healthcare programs—nursing, pre-med, radiologic technology, and neurodiagnostic
technology—have seen the highest rate of increase.

UHC has been named the #1 nursing program in the state of Louisiana by RegisteredNursing.org! Since 2023, the University has achieved a 100% pass rate on the National Council Licensure
Examination (NCLEX) and a 100% job placement with local healthcare providers for over
five years. Congratulations to our nursing faculty, staff and students!
UHC will host the Westbank Business and Industry Association for a luncheon on leveraging the state's
new economic development strategy. This is a can't-miss opportunity for business leaders in Jefferson and Plaquemines
Parishes to get a direct look at Louisiana's updated approach to economic growth.
