Can you hear the thunderous applause in the background while reading this newsletter? Well, if you do (or can at least imagine it), those applause are being generated from our Marianites of Holy Cross, Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, administration, and alumni in honor of our graduating students. This year, UHC commencement activities officially kicked-off on May 4 with our Education Department’s Candlelight Commissioning Ceremony and the Sigma Beta Delta Business Honor Society’s Induction Ceremony that was held on May 6. On May 17, we will host our Counseling Graduate Salute event followed by our Nursing Pinning Ceremony on May 19 and then mass and commencement on May 20 and May 21, respectively. What an absolute exciting time for our graduates and their families as we recognize their achievements and welcome them into the UHC Alumni Association. There is no doubt that the impact they will make in our New Orleans metropolitan region and beyond will be tremendous.
During our commencement activities, we will also recognize our 2023 Honorary Degree Recipients, Mr. Joseph Caruso & Mrs. Erin Vezina Caruso. Joe and Erin are both graduates of UHC and are amazing supporters of our alma mater. Additionally, we are blessed to have Ms. Tracey Moffatt MHA, BSN, RN, System Chief Nursing Officer & System Vice President for Quality, for Ochsner Health New Orleans, as our keynote speaker. Tracey has been an exceptional leader in our healthcare industry for decades, and we are excited about the inspirational message that she will share with our UHC family.
In addition to celebrating our graduates’ accomplishments, we are also enjoying our new university website. When you have a chance, click on www.uhcno.edu and take a look at this well-designed and highly functional site that is user friendly and displays fresh content. Rumor has it that the Give webpage is a perfect way to show your appreciation. 😊
Lastly, as we wrap up the Spring 2023 semester, I would like to take a brief moment to thank you for your support. It truly takes everyone donating time, talent, and resources to make UHC a remarkable place to educate the minds and hearts of our students. From the bottom of my heart, please know that we could not do it without you.
