I hope this message finds you all well and filled with the joy of Easter and the vibrant energy of the Spring season! It's truly a beautiful time of renewal and growth, and nowhere is this more evident than at the University of Holy Cross.

As we reflect on the blessings of Easter and the blossoming of nature around us, I am thrilled to share some exciting news with you all. May 1st will mark 175 years that the Holy Cross Family traveled from LeMans, France to Louisiana to establish their presence in our beloved state. As a result, we invite you to join us in commemorating this momentous occasion. To honor the legacy of the Marianites and the entire Holy Cross Family, we are launching a fundraising campaign seeking donations of $175 from generous supporters like you. Your contribution will play a vital role in sustaining our mission and ensuring that we continue to make a positive difference in the lives of those we serve. Donate here: Give to UHC. We also ask that you join us for Mass at the St. Louis Cathedral on April 28th at 11AM to honor this event.

Next, we were blessed to recognize Mayra Pineda, President and CEO at the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Louisiana, as our 2024 Spes Unica Award recipient. The Spes Unica Award is the most notable award that our beloved institution bestows on an individual. The event was held at the Higgins Hotel on April 10th and was a great success.

Last, we have secured a distinguished speaker for this year's commencement ceremony, and I am delighted to announce that Dr. Calvin Mackie will grace us with his presence on May 19th at the Alario Center. Dr. Calvin Mackie is an award-winning mentor, inventor, author, former engineering professor, internationally renowned speaker, and successful entrepreneur. In 2013, Dr. Mackie founded STEM NOLA, a non-profit organization created to expose, inspire, and engage communities in the opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). To date, STEM NOLA has engaged over 70,000 K-12 students in hands-on project-based STEM activities. In 2021, he launched STEM Global Action to advance K-12 Stem education across the U.S. and the world. Dr. Mackie is also a Board of Trustees member at the University of Holy Cross. Dr. Mackie's insights and experiences are sure to inspire and motivate our graduating class as they embark on their next chapter.

As we continue to celebrate the spirit of Easter and embrace the vibrant energy of Spring, let us also look forward to the upcoming commencement ceremony and the opportunities that lie ahead for our students.
