WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH A BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION DEGREE?

A business administration coursework is typically designed to align with real-world business scenarios taught from an industry-relevant perspective. By studying business theories and learning best business practices, you develop critical skillsets, such as knowing how to analyze problems by using and applying data. Business majors also have the opportunity to gain proficiency in managing large groups of people and may become adept at fostering professional communications.

A Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree is designed to provide students with a strong academic foundation in core business functions including general business administration, accounting, finance, data analytics, human resources, marketing, business law, economics and organizational behavior. These competencies are flexible enough that upon graduation, careers in a variety of different fields may be available. You may initially be interested in business administration because you feel you have leadership skills and think could be successful managing teams, but as you take courses you can discover there’s so much more to business administration than management.

CONCENTRATIONS

Students may choose an area of concentration or may choose to pursue the Business Administration degree with no area of concentration. Concentrations are earned by successfully completing 18 semester hours of advanced course work in the field. Concentrations are offered in management, marketing, healthcare management.

A concentration in Management provides you with skills and training that apply to all manners of business, preparing you to take on significant challenges and responsibilities in private, public and not-for-profit organizations. You’ll be ready to make strategic decisions, manage people and bring new technologies and innovations to market.

Marketing Concentration

The Marketing concentration prepares students to undertake and manage the process of developing both consumer and business markets and communicating product benefits to targeted market segments. You will gain an understanding of consumer behavior and dynamics, sales promotions, effective pricing, marketing campaigns, principles of marketing research, strategic market planning, advertising methods, retailing, and applications for specific products and markets.

Healthcare Management Concentration

The Healthcare Management concentration focuses on filling needs for clinical leadership, innovative approaches to industry challenges, health analytics, health informatics and the tie between quality and cost. You will develop competencies in healthcare administration, finance, policies and procedures, and relevant legal and regulatory issues through hands-on courses taught by industry experts.
