We also offer a BS in Health Sciences degree with a choice of tracks in Pre-Occupational Therapy or Pre-Audiology that qualify students to apply for graduate studies in those fields, as well as a Pre-Public Health track that prepares students for graduate school or for non-clinical positions in health organizations, non-profits and government agencies.

Earn A Degree In Health Sciences

The BS in Health Sciences Pre-Public Health track is an increasingly popular program that is designed for students interested in health and medical fields that do not require specialized clinical training. This degree qualifies students for entry level positions in hospitals or other health practices, non-profits or government programs.  Students have the freedom to choose electives in disciplines such as Business, Healthcare Management or Psychology to support their areas of interest.  The program also accepts clinical hours in Nursing, Respiratory Therapy or Radiologic Technology as electives.

The capstone of the Health Sciences program is an internship, served during senior year and offered through an agreement with the Ochsner Clinic Foundation.  UHC interns work as volunteers in various Ochsner departments.  The purpose is to give students real-world work experience and introduce them to the work of a large medical institution.  If possible, internships are assigned based on student interest.
