Healthfinder - Healthfinder® is a free gateway to reliable consumer health and human services information developed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Information is from selected online publications, clearinghouses, databases, web sites, and support and self-help groups, as well as the government agencies and not-for-profit organizations that produce reliable information for the public.

Health Services Technology Assessment Texts (HSTAT) - HSTAT, developed by the NLM, provides access to full-text of documents useful in health care decision making. It includes clinical practice guidelines, quick-reference guides for clinicians, consumer brochures, and evidence reports.

NIH Health Information Index 2000 - This site provides information available on diseases currently under investigation by NIH or NIH-supported scientists, major NIH research areas, and important health-related topics.

National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) - The NINR site includes research programs (grants and funding), highlights and outcomes of current nursing research, health information, and links to schools of nursing, news and information and legislative activities.

The Journal of Community Nursing - British online journal providing community nursing literature. Features include clinical reviews, editorials, professional updates, and innovations in practice.

Nursing Standard - British online journal featuring developments in nursing policy and practice. Includes news, weekly editorial features, career related articles, and posting of queries.

Advanced Practice and Specialty Nursing Organizations:

American Association of Critical Care Nurses - The AACN is a not-for-profit association designed to help educate nurses working in newly developed intensive care units. AACN is dedicated to creating a healthcare system driven by the needs of patients and families where critical care nurses make their optimal contribution. This site also includes a sub-section for advanced practice nurses.

American Association of Nurse Anesthetists - The AANA is the professional association representing CRNAs (certified registered nursing anesthetists) nationwide. The AANA is dedicated to the professional growth and development of CRNAs by striving to improve the quality of nurse anesthesia education and provide competent providers.

American College of Nurse-Midwives - The ACNM provides research, accredits nurse-midwifery education programs, administers and promotes continuing education programs, establishes clinical practice standards, creates liaisons with state and federal agencies and members of Congress. Its mission is to promote the health and well-being of women and infants within their families and communities through the development and support of the profession of midwifery as practiced by certified nurse-midwives, and certified midwives.

American Nephrology Nurses' Association (ANNA) - The American Nephrology Nurses' Association (ANNA) has a membership of over 11,000 nephrology professionals including registered nurses and other healthcare professionals with varying experience and expertise. The ANNA's mission is to advance nephrology nursing practice and positively influence outcomes for patients with kidney or other disease processes requiring replacement therapies through advocacy, scholarship, and excellence.

American Nurses Association - ANA advances the nursing profession by fostering high standards of nursing practice, promoting the economic and general welfare of nurses in the workplace, projecting a positive and realistic view of nursing, and by lobbying the Congress and regulatory agencies on healthcare issues affecting nurses and the public.

American Psychiatric Nurses Association - The APNA provides leadership to advance psychiatric-mental health nursing practice, improves mental healthcare for culturally diverse individuals, families, groups, and communities and shapes health policy for the delivery of mental health services.

Association of Nurses in AIDS Care - The Association of Nurses in AIDS Care is a nonprofit professional nursing organization committed to fostering the individual and collective professional development of nurses involved in the delivery of health care to persons infected or affected by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and to promoting the health, welfare, and rights of all HIV infected persons.

Association of Women's Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses - AWHONN is a not for profit association of healthcare professionals in the United States, Canada, and abroad who are dedicated to establishing and promoting the highest standards of nursing practice.

ExceptionalNurse.com - This Web site provides information for nurses and nursing students with disabilities. It promotes the inclusion of nurses with disabilities in the profession by providing resources, education, advocacy and support.

National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists - The NACNS exists to enhance and promote the unique, high value contribution of the clinical nurse specialist to the health and well-being of individuals, families, groups, and communities, and to promote and advance the practice of nursing. Members of NACNS benefit from national, regional, and local efforts of the Association to make the contributions of CNS more visible.

National Association of Neonatal Nurses - The mission of NANN is to support and promote neonatal nursing. To this end, NANN aims to provide a specialty organization that acts as a unified voice to further the work of neonatal nurses in the provision of newborn and family care, facilitate cooperation among nurses in a variety of roles, promote education for neonatal nursing, and foster advanced nursing practice.

National Association of Pediatric Nurse Associates and Practitioners - NAPNAP is the professional organization that advocates for children, (infants through young adults), and provides leadership for pediatric nurse practitioners who deliver primary care in a variety of settings.

National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties - The mission of NONPF is to provide leadership in promoting quality nurse practitioner education. Through the support of the development of instructional skills and scientific investigation in nurse practitioner education, NONPF serves the public interest by assuring the preparation of highly qualified healthcare professionals.

National League for Nursing - The NLN advances quality nursing education that prepares the nursing workforce to meet the needs of diverse populations in an ever-changing healthcare environment.

Oncology Nursing Society - The mission of ONS is to promote excellence in oncology nursing and quality cancer care. The ONS works to fulfill this mission by providing nurses and healthcare professionals with access to the highest quality educational programs, cancer-care resources, research opportunities, and networks for peer support.

Society of Pediatric Nurses - SPN is the only broad-based pediatric nursing organization founded for all nurses involved in the care of children and families. Society members include staff nurses, school and outpatient nurses, clinical nurse specialists, practitioners, administrators, educators and researchers. The Society offers its members the opportunity to interact with colleagues of similar interests, and to share ideas, research and expertise.

Society of Urologic Nurses and Associates - The Society of Urologic Nurses and Associates is a professional organization committed to excellence in patient care standards and a continuum of quality care, clinical practice, and research through education of its members, patients, families, and community.
