The Literary Club of the University of Holy Cross is a professional organization open to any student interested in creative writing, literature, editing, and publishing. While English majors usually become members, many other majors (Education, History, Biology, Liberal Arts, Counseling) often become members.

Our major goal is the yearly publication of Calliope, the UHC literary magazine, a collection of poetry, short stories, reflections, and artwork by UHC students.

Literary Club members contribute to the magazine and encourage other students to submit their work. The President of the Literary Club also serves as editor of Calliope.

The major activity of the Literary Club is to sponsor the Calliope Launch Party, usually held in late April or early May each year. Students participate by reading their own creative work published in the magazine, by performing musical selections or dramatic readings, and by exhibiting their original artwork. The Party is held in conjunction with the Diversity Committee’s Diversity Celebration.

The Literary Club also sponsors readings by published authors, raffles at Fall Fest, and an annual party to celebrate the graduation of members.
