Fulbright Liason of the Month

Armine ShahoyanFulbright Scholar Liaison Dr. Armine Shahoyan graciously hosted the Fulbright Institutional Training at the University of Holy Cross in New Orleans, May 30th. On behalf of the Fulbright Program, we thank Dr. Shahoyan for providing all the campus resources and venues to make this year's FIT a great success.

How long have you been a Scholar Liaison? I have been a Scholar Liaison since 2017. At the same time, I became a chair of the University's Fulbright Committee.

What is your favorite part about the role? Among the various facets of this role, my favorite part is undoubtedly the opportunity to foster cross-cultural exchanges and intellectual growth within our academic community. I love working with the faculty and students, encouraging and supporting them to become a part of the global educational world through the incredible opportunities offered by a variety of Fulbright program, including the U.S. Scholar Program, the U.S. Student Program, the Fulbright Specialist Program, and the English Teaching Assistant Program. The recent opportunity to host the Fulbright Institutional Training event was another joyful experience.

What is your Fulbright best practice?  As a recipient of the Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence award in 2004, I am forever grateful for the guidance I received from my colleagues. Recognizing the importance of a personalized approach,  my best practice for the Fulbright Program today is to provide individual guidance and support for each applicant. Each applicant is unique, and it is essential to understand their specific goals, strengths, and challenges to offer tailored advice and resources.
