Group of UHC BS Accounting Students

Every spring University of Holy Cross Bachelor of Science in Accounting program students provide free tax preparation service to low and medium income tax payers through a partnership with the Internal Revenue Service. Accounting students obtain experience preparing tax returns for near 200 taxpayers every year. Accounting students must complete an internship as part of their degree requirements. At the end of the internship students and taxpayers consistently provide positive feedback about the experience. Many taxpayers have returned every year since its inception in 2011.

Alexis Crssonie

"After taking this class you will have all your family and friends calling you to ask questions about their taxes. I like seeing the faces of the customers that you help and knowing that you made their lives a little bit easier.”

 Mary Ann Norton

"This internship is unique because while we have fun with each other we are still put into a situation that pushes many to step outside of their comfort zones. We are forced to break out of the school environment by actually engaging with real clients. You can learn concepts, rules, and laws in a textbook easily. However, applying them to real life is when these things truly stick with you.”

Shakeva Noil-Taylor

"This has been an amazing experience! I believe working hands on made the work easy to understand.”
